Troubleshooting
If you want to delete your account on an Android phone or web browser, head directly to Snapchat’s accounts portal.
Sign in with your username and password, enter your login details again to confirm and click Continue to delete your account.
If you change your mind within 30 days of deactivating, simply log back into the Snapchat app with your username and password.
Just remember that you can’t use your email address to log in anymore and after 30 days your account will have been permanently deleted.
To temporarily deactivate your Snapchat account for fewer than 30 days, follow the steps above. It’s important to note that if you fail to reactivate your account within those 30 days, it will be permanently deleted.
A safer way to temporarily close your account is to uninstall the app from your phone. This won’t delete your account, allowing you to log back in whenever you want. However, other users will still be able to view and message your account.
The easiest way to delete your Snapchat data is to go to your settings, scroll down to Privacy Controls and select Clear Data. Then, choose which data you wish to delete.
If Snapchat won’t allow you to delete your account for 72 hours, this is likely a security measure. You may need to wait and try again when this period is up.
Snapchat only keeps your account for 30 days after you follow these steps. Once those 30 days are up, your account is deleted permanently.
Snapchat will retain some account data for legal, security and business needs, though this will be information such as purchases you’ve made through your Snapchat account and when you accepted the app’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
